Matsumoto Castle Ice Sculpture (Jan 31st – Feb 2nd)

The annual Matsumoto Castle Ice Sculpture Festival this year is going to start from January 31st to February 2nd. During this festival ice sculpture works of local artists are going to be displayed at Matsumoto castle park and Daikomon gate.

Especially, this year from February 1st to February 2nd, the Ice sculpture international championship is organizing at Matsumoto castle park. From 17:00 February 1st  the Japanese and international artists from Neitherlands, Belgium,  France, Italy, Thailand gather at the Matsumoto castle park to prepare for the exhibition on February 2nd. You will have chance to see how ice sculpture masterpieces are made by participants from six countries throught the night. 

Besides, on February 1st and 2nd don’t forget to try Jumpo slider at Honmaru Garden and enjoy Matsumoto local food at cafeterias.

Admission to Matsumoto Castle park and Honmaru Garden is free  (Admission to the castle tower is charged.)

Also, this year there will be an amazing carving of Matsumoto’s Former Kaichi School by a master ice sculptor Junichi Nakamura in front of Matsumoto Station.
