The exhibition of tencil-dying artworks in harmony with Matsumoto folk craft furniture

Sakura trees blooming in Matsumoto castle is a charming scene that you should not miss these days if you make a visit to Matsumoto city. The sakura tree rows are also lighted up at night.

Have you ever heard about katazome? It is a Japanese traditional dying art. There is an exhibition of Mr. Samiro Yunoki, a famous master craftman in the art of tencil-dying (katazome) this month in Matsumoto city. Mr. Samiro Yunoki who spend his long time living in Matsumoto, pursued his passion in Japanese folk crafts (mingei traditions) and became a well-known master craftman in the art of tencil-dying (katazome).

There is a set of Matsumoto Mingei kagu Furniture which is decorated with a tencil-dying artwork by Mr. Samiro Yunoki placed at the lobby of our hotel Iidaya.

He had two exhibitions in Paris in recent years. This time the exhibition of tencil-dying artworks of Mr. Samiro Yunoki in a harmony with Matsumoto fork craft funiture is held in the Matsumoto city museum from Apr. 18 to Jun. 7
